Revealing Fashions: How Much is Too Much? (3)

Doing It Right:

Okay, now that we've talked about the hazards of dressing the wrong way to look sexy, let's talk about how to do it the right way. There are four main areas we'll discuss: legs, cleavage, neck, arms and backs, and overall figures. We'll discuss ways to make them look their best, and what to watch out for.

      Legs:

sexy legs graphic       A woman with shapely legs who wants to show them off can do so without wearing miniskirts and stiletto heels. First of all, most women will agree that high heeled shoes seem to have been devised by men whose sole aim was to torture women. Yet, heels do make a woman's legs look longer and cause the muscles of the legs to flex the proper way to appear most shapely. The compromise is to go with a medium to low heeled shoe. These are more comfortable, and still provide the look you seek.

As for showing the legs themselves, a short skirt is an option, but not always the best choice for certain situations. In a work environment, or if attending a more conservative social function, try an A-line skirt with a split that will offer an occasional glimpse of the leg when you sit or move around, but will look professional while you're standing still. This is also an excellent choice if you have a "problem area" like thick thighs. Just remember in this case to make sure the split doesn't rise more than midway up the thigh.

      Cleavage:

cleavage graphic       Most women give more than passing thought to their breasts. Many women with small ones which they had more, while many women with large ones wish they had less. And even the women I know who are happy with the size of their breasts complain that they don't like the shape. A lot of these problems can be corrected with the right foundation garment, i.e. brassiere.

Women's undergarment manufacturers have come up with an amazing number of bras for every type of breast imaginable. For small busted women, there are padded bras, gel-filled bras, and water-filled bras to give you the silhouette with which you were never born. For women with large breasts, there are bras that lift and support your bosom to give you a shapelier figure. And for the women who are unhappy with the shape of their breasts, there are bras that will contour, mould and redefine the breast to give you the look you want.

As for displaying the cleavage, don't just think of wearing a low-cut blouse or dress. There are a variety of necklines that are perfect for displaying the décolletage. The most flattering are the empire neckline, Queen Anne neckline and the sweetheart neckline, all of which dip low into the chest to reveal the cleavage.

The empire neckline generally dips low onto the breast and runs horizontally across the cleavage midway between the top of the breast and the nipple. It is ideal for the large breasted woman who fears having an "accident" and revealing more than she would desire.

The Queen Anne neckline is high in the back and angles outward to the top of the breast, then dips inward to the cleavage in an almost diamond shape. It is also good for full-breasted women who want to display their décolletage without feeling over-exposed.

The sweetheart neckline exposes most of the chest and dives in a slight curve into the cleavage, revealing the most of the three necklines listed. It is perhaps more appropriate for less full-breasted women, but will display the cleavage to excellent effect, regardless of size.        Next Page
