Recreate Fragnance

Q: I have a beloved fragrance that has been discontinued. At one time I heard of a place where you can send your perfume and they can recreate it. Would you know of a place like this? Thank You.

A: I spent a lot of time looking for any company online that offered custom perfume creation (or re-creation) and was unable to find anyone offering to take a sample of a fragrance to match for you. The problem may be that most fragrances used in perfumes, even when the perfume has been discontinued, are under a copyright by whatever manufacturer made the product. However, I did find a company called Scent Design {www.scentdesign.net} that offers you the option to create your own fragrance from a list of fragrances they have available.

You may be able to view their fragrance list and identify elements that exist in the fragrance you wish to recreate, or perhaps you can even find something that appeals even more. Their rates seem reasonable: a five-fragrance blend is U.S. $20.00 for a one ounce bottle, and a three-fragrance blend is U.S. $10.00 for a one-third ounce bottle.

Another option you may try is to search for the fragrance online under closeout sites and on auction sites, such as e-Bay. You may find the last vestiges of the product out there and be able to prolong the inevitable end of the line.
