Sandwich Spring 2008 Collection

The Spring 2008 Sandwich collection is characterised by many new trends. Tunics remain very popular, only now they come in numerous variations – down to the knee, halfway down the thigh or to just around the hip. They are combined with less conspicuous lower garments, the strength of the outfits being the tops and how they are coordinated.

Each colour group has a bright accent colour to give the collections an unmistakable spring look when they are on display in the shop. The colours in question are pale blue, bright yellow, apple green and salmon pink. They are rarely used alone, but you’ll find them amply represented in the wide range of prints, stripes and checks. The prints - graphic and floral - are combined with subdued colours in the lower garments. The chosen weights, lavish finishes and washed looks make the materials used for the Casual collection soft to touch. The indispensable skinny jeans come in two denim washed looks.

The colours of the second delivery are really light and refreshing. The outlines are more or less the same as in the first delivery, but the design team has opted for more flowing, supple fabrics that follow the contours of the body, making for a very feminine silhouette. Besides cotton, the line includes cotton/linen mix and pigment-dyed lightweight satin. Silver and grey tones can be ideally combined with bright accent colours such as mandarin, fuchsia and lemon yellow. The accent colours are again used in a broad range of patterns. The use of pleats, pin tucks and smocking add a detailed romantic touch making the range very feminine and elegant. T-shirts and trousers are fairly basic and more understated to enhance the contrast with the tunics and exciting knits worn above them. The design team has with this collection most successfully created a layered silhouette.

Although the Sandwich Special and Casual lines are closely connected, the Spring 2008 Special collection really is “special”. It is characterised by more fluid materials, supple viscoses, cupro and silk. A lot of attention has been paid to dresses, which can also be worn as tunics. New for the season are widely cut blouse jackets and cardigans. They are used to create a layered look, but with the individual layers being more simple in style. Each colour group features beautiful prints. The overall range is a little more subdued in terms of colour, but nevertheless harmonises perfectly with the Casual collection.

A real eye-catcher is a coordinated set executed in natural colours with glitter and silver accents and a subtle print. The ensemble is specifically designed to be worn in layers in the colours camel, white and silver. Important colours of the second colour group are dark grey, white and pale pink, the latter being subtly incorporated in a print. The most distinctive innovation is in the tops, which are made of woven fabrics or tricot. The basic colours of the last group are a moss brown combined with natural shades and raffia yellow. Cardigans have short sleeves so that they can create a new silhouette when combined with blouses or long-sleeved T-shirts.

The wide variety of new outlines and varying lengths and the new colour range make the Spring 2008 collection truly surprising. It is an extremely commercial, easy-to-wear collection bearing the distinctive Sandwich mark.
