Whilst we don’t generally dwell in the past, one important factor coming
through strongly from prior seasons is that consumers are looking for more
and more softness from their winter wardrobe.
Verse will therefore offer, within the range, fluid, soft and rich fabrics in wools,
wool mixtures, fluid viscose, soft cottons and cotton mixes, and a few almost technical
polyester materials (for the new slim silhouettes).
The change in silhouettes will emphasize the self-confidence of today’s
woman: A line silhoutte jackets on cigarette trousers or pencil skirts, slim-line
pants on one hand, and a new trend to a modern take on androgeny on the
other.
Metallic looks, contrast of shiny and dull fabrics, sequins, zips, press-studs, are
all important motifs for Winter 2008.
VERSE has taken their inspiration from the following trends:
Military: Bomber jackets, breeches, olive and brown.
Urban Country: Masculine tweeds, herringbones and checks contrasted with
super-feminine shapes in an autumnal palette. Feel cosy in soft winter looks
in light-weight fabrics.
Mens Tailoring: Inspired by men’s suits of the 1920’s, business outfits feature
elegant pencil skirts as the feminine alternative to the mannish Marlene
trouser.
Black, midnight and grey shades with silver, gold and steel satin, highlighted
with purple and wintery pinks.
A classic Black-White-Red colour theme expressed in new fabrics is one of the
key themes for Winter 2008.
40’s Glamour: Tailored, but soft jackets, swinging skirts in elegant fabrics
emphasize new combinations of extravagance and luxury.
Camel, gold, silver, darkest grey teamed with smokey blue and off-white
brings life to this rich trend.
